Sustainability Workshop / Universe of Stories Project

WHAT: Workshop ENERGY–SUSTAINABILITY AND EFFICIENCY

WHERE: LA FÀBRICA DEL SOL, 26/11/2014

WHO: 6th grade (primary) students at Dovella School, as part of the project “Universe of Stories in Europe and the World”

BIOHABITA! We ran a workshop on Energy, sustainability and efficiency for the 6th-grade class at Dovella School.

This workshop was offered through the project Univers d’històries a Europa and the World, which the school is taking part in. It is a cultural and social project that fosters intergenerational exchange through oral storytelling. Participants (from different educational centers, families and community centers) of many different backgrounds and abilities share their journey into the past in a theatrical event, followed by a reflection roundtable with a look at the present and the future—an universe of stories, emotions and experiences.

At BIOHABITA!, we offer participants in this project various architecture and sustainability workshops linked to intergenerational exchange, connecting the sustainability being discussed today in different fields with the sustainability that already existed when grandparents were children or young people—before the concept even existed as such.

For Dovella School, we focused this workshop on renewable energies, which is why we took them to La Fàbrica del Sol. After the explanation, we had the opportunity to visit this municipal facility, where some of these energy-generation systems can be seen live and in operation.

It was a very enriching day, as we looked for answers to the questions and concerns that came up for the children. We were also able to draw some conclusions: respect for nature can help create a more sustainable and better world.
