During this month of May, a total of 10,000 Primary and Secondary students will hold architecture workshops thanks to COAC’s ‘Architecture in the Classroom’ program.
Biohabitat! we participate actively by holding workshops that we have prepared for this 2024 academic year. These are workshops aimed at high school and ESO students at different institutes in Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Hospitalet de Llobregat and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
The workshop we have prepared for this course is:
Do you know everything that happens when you talk on your cell phone? Does it affect your health? Where do the materials of which it is made come from?
The aim of this workshop is for the students to make a technologically healthy use of wireless communication devices based on the knowledge of their physical operating principles and to make them aware of the health, social and environmental implications that arise from their use.
We have been doing this workshop for ten years and it comes from transferring our professional work of analyzing and measuring different sources of electromagnetic pollution inside the home and the recommendation of strategies to reduce our exposition to them that we make to our customers.
We want to bring some of our knowledge in a very practical way to teenagers and young people.
In the workshop, the physical principles of wireless communication (waves, electromagnetic fields, etc.) and the history of this technology are explained through images, questions and dramatized examples. Different student volunteers go out in the middle of the circle where different measurements are made with devices to identify the presence in everyday reality (microwaves, mobile phone, wireless phone) of this physical phenomenon that is invisible with the aim of relating the abstract general concepts with a specific task and situation
