The timber was felled in accordance with the phases of the moon. In general, felling aims for the wood to have the lowest possible moisture content, taking advantage of the fact that depending on the lunar phase the sap concentrates in the roots and therefore its presence\u2014in liquid form\u2014in the trunk is reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The construction was carried out using a heavy solid-timber structure with traditional joints and wooden pegs, following the timber frame method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The frame was made by working the wood with mortise-and-tenon joints, using acacia pegs for fixing. The system ensures the structure is fully locked together, and the timber members work mainly in compression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only metal hardware used was at the point of contact between the timber posts and the concrete slab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
