In 1908, Joan Millet commissioned the Modernist architect Manel Joaquim Raspall to carry out a complete remodeling of a farmhouse in L\u2019Ametlla del Vall\u00e8s: Can Xammar de Dalt, in keeping with the style of the period\u2014Modernisme (Catalan Art Nouveau).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The farmhouse is currently in the process of being listed as a heritage property and stands out for the pinnacles on the gable ends and its lookout tower, typical of Modernist garden houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Biohabita, we restored the building\u2019s tower, which was in a deteriorated condition due to water infiltration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arab tile roof was dismantled and its structure was reinforced with timber and a few metal strengthening elements. The slab that forms the lookout over the roof\u2014through which water was leaking\u2014was also demolished. It was rebuilt with a timber structure, significantly reducing its weight. The intervention includes waterproofing with a breathable membrane. Natural finishes from Keim were used for the structural timber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction company CaOh2<\/a>, which carried out the work, specializes in interventions on architectural cultural heritage assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
