Reform, expansion and energy rehabilitation of a house with sustainability criteria: WE IMPROVE ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RATING!

Project of reform, expansion and energy rehabilitation of a house between party walls in Sant Feliu de Llobregat. The ground floor is renovated and a first floor is built.

It is proposed to follow two criteria of action:
First that the rehabilitation of the house serves to implement passive and active improvements in the building that improve energy efficiency and reduce the consumption of primary energy.
Second, reform the functional program of the house to adapt it to the needs of new owners and improve their conditions of habitability and accessibility.
The result of the performance was the following:

CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS:
77.38% improvement! It has gone from emitting 45.1 kg CO2/m2 year to emitting 10.2 kg CO2/m2 year.

NON-RENEWABLE PRIMARY ENERGY CONSUMPTION:
75.27% improvement! It has gone from a consumption of 244.20 kWh/m2 year and rating E to 60.4 kWh/m2 year, increasing its rating to B.

DEMAND FOR HEATING AND COOLING:
81.25% improvement! It has gone from 135.5 kWh/m2 year to 25.4 kWh/m2 year.

This important improvement allows owners to choose to apply for a grant from the Next Generation fund of up to 80% of the budget invested in the rehabilitation works.

And there is still room for improvement! It is recommended to owners that in the future improve the production of hot water (ACS) and add energy contributions with the placement of photovoltaic panels, to get a rating A, which is what we should aspire to have all homes.
